This is the splendid cherry tree outside my bedroom window, I look forward to it's blossom all year but this was the last time for me as we are moving house next week. I'll miss my beautiful garden and log cabin but I am very excited about the future and everything in store for the coming year and years to come!

Here's another finished project, I bought a delicious jelly roll at the patchwork show and I made this baby quilt for one of my nieces. I still have some material left so I think I will just patch it without as much white. Its very wonky but super soft.

Popcorn stitch purses Sunday 5th September- come and learn a new crochet stitch and make a sweet little purse. All materials included for two purses, lined in Amy Butler fabric. 10-4 pm £60

Mondays
10-1 private tuition
1-3 1:1 throwing tuition
4-6pm Craft club! A weekly session for families and craft enthusiasts. We will work on projects together in this creative and informal session, £5 per week per adult, £2 per child, term time only. Free tea and coffee!

7-9pm Ceramics evening class, 12 week term £150 including basic materials. Learn hand building and throwing in a professional studio, this is a small group so plenty of tuition to learn and develop your skills.

Tuesdays
Craft club nights! 7-9pm £120 per 12 week term. A group for adults who want to learn and improve their crafting over a cup of tea and some banter! We will work on projects together in this taught session. Themes include crochet, knitting and ceramics.

Here it is at last, the tea set I've been working on for ages! This is a slip cast porcelain teaset, made from a wheel thrown model, made by me and cast in Stoke on Trent! The lovely fabric is by Amy Butler and I bought it last year at the Festival of Quilts oin Birmingham- which is my big treat to myself every year!

The teaset is available in white, blue and white +print and the big launch is Friday 13th at West 7, New York. At the Uniquely UK showcase, hosted by the British Embassy in New York!

Craft Club is coming to Cambridge

There's still one more weekend of Cambridge Open Studios to go (24/25th July 11-6) so please come and see me at Woodside Rural Care, Cambs or visit the artists marquee to buy sale work and old favourites at Burwash Manor Barns. The Stoke studio will be on downtime over the summer and open again in September for new product development and tea-set production!

On August 2nd I will be having an open day at a new workshop in Cambridge 11-4, so please come along to say hello and see the new gallery/ teaching space. There will be free taster sessions on the wheel, demonstrations and a free make and take clay workshop for children. The address is 29 Kidmans Yard, Primrose St, Cambridge CB4 3DY

New courses will start too:
Family workshops, £4 per person, under 4s free and welcome. Tuesday 3rd August 10-12.30 is pottery for parents and children.
Tuesday 3rd August 1.30-3.30 Family crochet workshop, learn how to make a granny square to start a blanket!
Silver bangle making day Saturday 7th August 10-4 £75 including silver to make a beautiful original bangle
Hand-building in porcelain Sunday 8th August 10-4 £60 per person, all materials and firings included
Sunday 5th September- popcorn stitch crochet purse- come and make a lovely crochet purse and line it with Amy Butler fabric, 10-4 £60 all materials included to make two purses

And...craft club is starting! Launching on Monday 2nd August and running all year 4-6pm, join me in my workshop for tea, cakes and craft. We'll work on projects together like ceramics, crochet, knitting, christmas decorations! The cost is £5 a week with occasional material costs- or bring your own. Accompanied, well behaved children welcome! If there is enough demand I will start a later group one evening a week for adults, including wine and knitting!

The last chance to fire the big kiln before I go to London, I wish I'd made more but I ran out of clay! It's so hard to know how much to make. A big thankyou to the lovely people at Country Living mag for featuring my cup and saucer this month (Feb)I can't wait for the CL fair! But in the meantime I am ready for Paris! I will be in Hall 7 Now! Aisle L1-K2 with the British European Design Group, and if you are there, come and say hello! As soon as I get back I have an exhibition at The New Schoolhouse Gallery in Peaseholme Green, York, and I will be making orders for the show and stock for Country Living. Here's to an 80 hour week standing up and smiling! Plus some lovely new stockists to be announced....I thought January was meant to be quiet!

I'm getting my things together for Maison et Objet in Paris in two weeks. Early new year's resolution

My new year's resolution is to post more on my blog and not ignore it! I've taken lots of pics to upload of things I have been making and lovely things I've seen. But September to December is very busy and I never have any free time! I've justcome back from setting up my display in my pop up shop! It's at Burwash Manor Barns in Barton www.burwashmanor.net, which has got to be one of my favourite places in Cambridge. We will be opening on Friday 4th December 6-9 pm, then everyday until Christmas eve, selling lovely things! Ihave taken pictures ready to post, so more to come! Plus, ne work, new colours and a streamlined range.If I get time, I'll even finish the baby blankets I started making in the summer for my friends- who've all had the babies now!

I'm back from New York with a head full of ideas and a great range of new stockists- more information when things are finalised...

And more pictures as soon as I work out how to upload them from my new phone. I also treated myself to a day off and went to the Festival of Quilts with Jay. It was rammed with women stocking up on fabric. That was the last of the days off this year- it's full on pot making now for the next 8 months!

Next year is filling up already- shows already booked are Maison et Objet in Paris in January and also the Country Living Spring Fair in March, in London.

I wanted a sort of faded elegance meets Miss Havisham look for the new publicity shots. A bit moody and a bit vintage, quiet, eclectic. The pots are a mixture of cast and thrown pieces from my new range. This is the collection that will be in the New York Gift fair, there are some new things in development too which I am taking and the full range will be on show at 100%Design in London in September. I'm working on some fabric designs too, but they will probably come out in January.

Here's the first shot for the teaser images for Autumn winter 2009. The black bowls are Wedgwood Jasper, and the white bowl and plate are bone china with platinum lustre prints. the cups and big dish are all thrown porcelain.

Tokyo was amazing, the way people live with ceramics is inspiring and the city was full of clashes and visual information. Expect lots of lines and stripes on my work from now on due to all the buildings! Here's some pictures, fish and skyscrapers.....

Off to Japan

Well there was just time to squeeze out another order before I go to Japan so these pots are going to be cups for Pelham House Gallery in the Isle of Wight, I am just going to put the handles on now....
This is the work for Japan all sorted, it's gone now on it's big journey and I am off soon. The rest of my pots are off to the Borough Museum in Newcastle Under Lyme for a showcase, and if you are in Hertfordshire the Cross Gallery in Bishops Stortford and Buntingford, has a delivery arriving any day soon!

Better get these pots finished and then pack my bags and all the million other things you have to do last minute before you go away!!!! I think I will be drilling colander holes until the dawn taxi comes to get me!

Perfect Sunday

Well we had one day of sun and everyone rushed to Trentham Gardens. I got burnt, but we had a great day. Back to work now, I have an order to get done before I go to Japan this weekend. I will take my ripple blanket with me and try and finish it!

A hard day's work

I've finally pulled my finger out and stripped the pugmill down for the bi-annual clay recycling marathon. All that lovely fresh clay waiting to be turned into pots! I'll post a picture later to show what I have made today.
I've developed an unhealthy love of crochet too, I wanted to look for something I could do on the plane to Japan, as if you know me then you know I can't sit still for 7 hours!

I am about to move out of the mouldy shed into a warm bright workshop, that means my pots will dry out quicker and I can make more! Here is my stand at the British craft Trade Fair in Harrogate two weeks ago. I got the cupboard and bun tray from an amazing antique village nearby called Dagfields.

I've finally managed to get some work done after a month of teaching and writing. I am preparing for the BCTF in Harrogate next week and am also planning to go to Japan in June to launch the new bone china range. I am thrilled to be going to New York in August with the Crafts Council, just got to sell lots of pots now to pay for it all!

Jay and I treated ourselves to a Julie Arkell day, we booked in in October when we were in Loop, I'm so glad we did, it was a perfect day. We were at the Make Lounge in Islington which was a great space full of nice Amy Butler fabrics. We had to dress our creature and make it a little hat! It was sublime! Julie Arkell was lovely, i need to go on another course now because I want to make a man creature with woolly trousers....
